Planet-Killing Republicans Deny Extinction

*About a decade ago, I began sounding the alarm on “The War Against Nature.” For those animal activists and guardians on the frontline, the bloodbath is gut-wrenching.

On May 6, 2019, after having examined 15,000 scientific and governmental sources for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services, 145 experts from 50 countries concluded that one in every four species, or, one million forms of life, face extinction.

This week, Republican lawmakers Rep. Tom McClintock and Rep. Bob Bishop denied and besmudged the science of this 1,500-page extinction study. In addition, they sneered at the Interpol 2014 report that organized crime is annually laundering in excess of $213 billion in animal parts and ancient timber mining. Flagrant examples of elected Republican U.S. lawmakers turning a blind eye and protecting the planet-killers.

These shameless fossil fuel-funded global heating deniers were in tow with their laughable “flat earth” rightwing stooges, Marc Morano and Koch brothers-funded Patrick Moore. Pathetically, these two pro-industrial clowns regularly denigrate climate science on Rupert Murdoch’s Fox network.

In the meantime, the U.S. Senate just approved $19.1 billion in disaster funding after years of climate-fueled disasters.

It is both horrifying to witness and report upon millions of Australian and Californian animals choking, boiling and incinerating as fossil fuel combustion accelerates and supercharges the oceans, which drive Earth’s climate.

In 2018 alone, fossil fuel heat infused the equivalent of detonating 100 million Hiroshima-style bombs into Earth’s oceans.

Right now, in a non-El Nino year, 60 percent of Tahiti and Mo’orea’s coral reefs stretching 333 feet deep into the Pacific Ocean are bleaching.

In Nature, when animals lose their homes, they die.”

Instead of protecting the planet’s greatest carbon dioxide warehouses, its ancient forests, they are being looted faster than ever before at 138 acres a minute, 24/7, 365 days. In Nature, when animals lose their homes, they die.

Each year, 44,000 floating super trawling slaughterhouses smash an area of ocean floor and 5000-year-old cold coral gardens, 150 times that of clearcutting forests on land. A minimum of 10 trillion creatures are annually slaughtered from the sea. Never before, in 1.1 billion years of reproductive evolution, have the oceans been emptied of all large creatures.

Unprecedented.

How dare these crooked politicians and their unscrupulous mouthpieces tell the American public that this accelerating Man-driven Sixth Mass Extinction is a figment of science. Tell that to the endangered leatherback turtles, hammerhead sharks, bluefin tunas, koalas, tigers, cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, orangutans and extinct U.S. reindeers in the lower 48. The list goes on, and on and on.

  • Reduce fossil fuel emissions now.
  • End annual$5.2T fossil fuel subsidies immediately.
  • Dovetail all industries within all 197 countries to attain a zero-combustion global economy by 2030.
  • Designate half of the Earth a vital reserve for Nature and all life forms.
  • Implement strict regulations for its protection with hundreds of thousands of guardians.
  • Vote for lawmakers who will protect the people, the animals and the planet, not the subsidized planet-killing fossil fuel oligarchs, the greedybankersbacking them and the Murdoch’s fear-based, conspiracy-mongering state television networks.
  • Consume less.
  • Travel less.
  • Switch to a plant-based diet. It’s the single biggest thing that each of us can do right now to fight the climate crisis.

This week, while most adults were sleepwalking, one million Gen Zs walked out of classrooms into 1,664 climate and extinction rebellion strikes in 125 countries. They clearly understand that we must value Nature, ecosystems and social equity, not growing the GDP!
